What the crew found, what they did, and what a homeowner can take from it

These notes come from work completed in North Georgia. We are not filling in details that were not on the job. Cities, counts, and causes are as reported. If a photo exists, it is from that job.

Marietta

A breaker burned at the bus bar

A breaker in the home's electrical panel had overheated and burned. That is the condition the customer was living with. It is also a troubleshooting job, not a default panel replacement.

Burned circuit breaker removed from a Marietta electrical panel, with heat damage at the bus-bar clip
The breaker after it was pulled. Heat damage is at the clip that lands on the bus bar.

What we found

The breaker came out so the landing could be seen. There was heavy heat damage where it clips onto the panel’s bus bar. The casing was melted and cracked. The metal connection clip was burnt and corroded. The bus bar and the neighboring breakers were checked for the same heat damage.

What we did

The burnt breaker was removed. The bus bar was confirmed sound. A new breaker went in. The circuit was tested under load.

Why this path

A breaker that has burned at its connection cannot be reused. The bus bar has to be checked too. A damaged bus bar will burn up a new breaker the same way. Replacing only the handle, or resetting the same device, does not repair a cooked clip.

What to take from it

Power was restored safely. A breaker can overheat at its connection without ever tripping. A burning smell, buzzing or crackling at the panel, a warm panel cover, or flickering lights are reasons to call an electrician right away instead of resetting the breaker again.

An outlet stopped working

The related job was a dead outlet. The visit included showing the homeowners the different types of outlets in the house, where they are, and how ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) devices protect a receptacle and other outlets on the same circuit. They were shown how to check those devices.

Came in the time frame promised! Was courteous and respectful and also educated me and my spouse on the different types of outlets in our house and where they are located. Best of all HE SOLVED OUR ISSUE

That same month the crew replaced ground-fault circuit interrupter outlets and specialty outlets: seven outlets across five jobs in Kennesaw. In Marietta, worn standard outlets and switches were replaced and loose receptacles were re-secured. Those are separate jobs from the review above. They are the same kind of work: devices that fail, trip, or come loose, not a whole-house rewrite unless the diagnosis says so.

Meter, riser, weatherhead, and grounding

In Kennesaw the crew replaced a meter, a riser, and a weatherhead, and upgraded the grounding system. That is the service entrance: the path from the utility into the house. It is not the same job as swapping a receptacle in a kitchen.

When the meter socket, the pipe that carries the service conductors, the weatherhead, or the grounding electrodes are the problem, those parts get named in the quote. A new breaker inside the panel does not replace a failed riser.

Dallas

Troubleshooting calls booked online

In Dallas the crew diagnosed and fixed electrical problems on seven troubleshooting calls booked online. Across the month, seven of nineteen jobs were troubleshooting, mostly for power surges. That is a pattern, not a claim that every surge needs a new panel.

Surge damage can show up as a dead outlet, a breaker that will not hold, or a device that failed after the event. The next step is still a test on site. The repair follows what the test shows.
