We quote the work you asked us to do
“No upsells” means we do not treat a dead outlet, a home-inspection note, or an EV charger consult as permission to sell a whole-house package. The written quote matches the scope you authorized. If we find something else, we explain it. We do not bury it in the same line item or imply the original job cannot proceed unless you buy extras.
It does not mean we ignore a safety defect in front of us. Disclosure is not an upsell. Pressure to buy unrelated work on the same visit is.
How a quote is built
After we diagnose on site, the proposal should be readable without a sales script. Labor, materials, permits, and inspection coordination that belong to the job are listed as included. Items that are not required for that job are not “included if you don’t object.”
What is typically included
- The diagnosed repair or the specified install (for example a Level 2 circuit and listed charger mount)
- Permits and inspection when that work requires them
- Cleanup of our work area and labeling that belongs to the change
What is not automatically included
- A panel upgrade because we are already in the garage
- Whole-home surge, recessed lighting, or generator gear you did not request
- Replacing every outlet “while we’re here”
Three buckets on every proposal
We use the same categories on repairs, inspections, and panel work.
1. Required repair
Work needed to correct the diagnosed failure or to complete the job you hired—safe, code-compliant completion of that scope.
2. Related condition
Something we found because we were already looking at the system: a loose lug next to the failed breaker, a missing equipment ground on the same circuit, rust in the same enclosure. Related does not mean mandatory today. We explain risk and let you choose timing.
3. Optional improvement
Capacity, convenience, or future-proofing: a 200-amp service for a shop you might build, extra circuits for a kitchen that is still on paper, a nicer charger than the one you bought. Optional stays optional.
If we find a safety issue
Heat at a lug, a burning odor, a breaker that will not stay set, or damaged insulation is not a marketing moment. We will tell you, recommend shutting off the affected circuit when that is the safe move, and quote the required repair as its own line. You can hire us for that work, get a second opinion, or schedule later. We will not hold the original small job hostage.
